MicroBT's M66S+ is an immersion-cooled Whatsminer: 318 TH/s from 5,406 W, 17 J/TH. It clears its power in the UAE today with room, and the S21 XP Immersion, one step up, costs about the same per unit, makes a cheaper coin and returns more in year one.
MicroBT Whatsminer M66S+ (318 TH/s)
The M66S+ is MicroBT's immersion-cooled Whatsminer at 17 J/TH: 318 TH/s from 5,406 W in the unit we list. Immersion machines start in the UAE, at 6¢, where it makes a bitcoin for about $57,200 of electricity and returns roughly 31% in its first year at today's price.
Bought once its price settled, in June 2026, it has mined and kept 0.0189 BTC for $990 of power: $554 of cashflow against a $3,809 landed cost, 15% of the box in 122 days. Between now and the 2028 halving it has another 0.078 BTC in it, worth about $9,664 with bitcoin back at its previous high of $124,493: roughly 2.7× its hardware by the halving, still running afterwards.
What you are buying is a proven MicroBT board design in a tank, at a settled price and a short payback. What you are not buying is the cheapest coin: the S21 XP Immersion at 13.5 J/TH makes one for about $45,400 and returns about 44% in year one, against this machine's $57,200 and 31%.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cashflow | 5.5/10 | Makes a bitcoin for about $57,200 of electricity at 6¢ and returns roughly 31% in year one at today's price. It has covered 15% of its hardware so far and is on track for about 2.7× by the 2028 halving. The S21 XP Immersion returns about 44%. |
| Longevity | 4.5/10 | At 17 J/TH its line is $24.48 a petahash a day at 6¢, against a hashprice of $36.79 on 20 October. Half of that, the flat-conditions picture after the halving, is $18.40: under the line. |
| Efficiency | 5/10 | Middling among immersion machines we stock: the M66S runs 18 J/TH and the S21 XP Immersion 13.5. |
| Quality control | 5/10 | Scored as unknown rather than as good. We found no operator reports of its boards in the field that we could cite, so there is no record to score. |
| Serviceability | 6/10 | Immersion, so it lives in the UAE, where the manufacturer's warranty centre is close to the facility and an in-warranty board goes direct. |
Weighted on what an owner gets back per dollar over the next four years. A settled entry price and a margin today carry it; 17 J/TH puts it in the middle of the immersion range, and a reliability record we could not find holds it back.
MicroBT showed the M66S+ at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in July 2024 as part of the M6XS+ series. Bitcoin Magazine's report of the launch lists it as the immersion-cooled model, "up to 318 TH/s with a power efficiency of 17 J/T". MicroBT's immersion operation guide names the M66S+ among the models it covers.
The unit we list is 318 TH/s from 5,406 W, which is 17 J/TH, at 16 kg, and smaller bins from 284 to 316 TH/s run at the same efficiency. Those are our store record: we could not open MicroBT's own product page for the M66S+, so we state only what the record holds. It sits above the M66S at 18 J/TH, and the air-cooled and water-cooled versions of the same series are the M60S+ and the M63S+.
The first price we hold for the 318 TH/s unit, in April 2026, was $8.05 a terahash. In the six months since it has stayed between $7.56 and $8.16, and a purchase after it settled, in June 2026, cost $2,437. It is $2,437 today, $7.66 a terahash, for the same 318 TH/s at the same 17 J/TH. The record is short, and in it the price has hardly moved: a settled machine, not one still finding its level.
Against its neighbours in the tank: the M66S is $7.35 a terahash at 18 J/TH, and the S21 XP Immersion is $8.30 at 13.5 J/TH. The M66S+ sits between them on price per terahash and on electricity per terahash, and the trade it makes is what the next section prices. The guide to what a miner costs all-in shows what sits on top of the box.
In the UAE, at 6¢, the M66S+ makes a bitcoin for about $57,200 of electricity today, against a bitcoin price of $83,368. The M66S makes one for about $60,600, and the S21 XP Immersion for about $45,400.
In its first year the M66S+ returns about 31% at today's price. The S21 XP Immersion returns 44% on $2,489, against $2,437 here: almost the same outlay for a machine that turns the same power into about a quarter more terahash, which is why its coin costs about a fifth less.
Over its run since June 2026, electricity has averaged about $52,500 a coin. That is a lifetime average over 122 days; the figure to plan on is today's.
A machine's line is the hashprice at which it stops covering its own power. At 17 J/TH a petahash uses 408 kWh a day: $24.48 at 6¢. On our hashprice chart, network hashprice was $36.79 a petahash a day on 20 October, and the lowest reading of the past year was $27.74 on 6 June 2026. The M66S+ line sat $3.26 under last June's trough.
The 2028 halving halves the coins a petahash earns. At today's price and difficulty that puts hashprice near $18.40, under the M66S+ line at 6¢ and under the S21 XP Immersion's $19.44. That is today's conditions held flat, not a forecast: it is why every projection we publish assumes the old high returns, and the forward figures here do the same.
Our Nigeria site runs air and hydro, so an immersion machine's home is the UAE and the 6¢ line is the one that applies. At 4.5¢ or below the M66S+ clears half of today's hashprice. The guide to efficiency and halvings shows where the line sits at every J/TH.
We looked for operator threads and repair write-ups on the M66S+ and found nothing specific to it that we could stand behind, so the reliability score is unknown rather than good or bad. MicroBT has sold the M6XS+ series since July 2024, but a quality score needs a record we can cite, and this one has none.
What a fault costs is the part that matters. Hosted with us in the UAE, the manufacturer's warranty centre is close to the facility, so an in-warranty unit goes direct: a failed hashboard is a line item, not a catastrophe. An immersion machine is built for a tank and serviced on a bench set up for it, which is why we rack it where the plant already exists.
We found no operator reports of this machine's boards we could cite. We score that as unknown, not as good.
The M66S+ is a sound immersion machine at a settled price, and a plain one. At 6¢ it clears its power with room today, and a buyer who wants a modest outlay into immersion hashrate in the UAE has a reason to pick it.
Most buyers chasing the cheapest coin should look one step up. The S21 XP Immersion makes one for about $45,400 against $57,200 here, and the figure below ranks everything that beats this machine on cost per coin and then year-one return, in stock today. A coin that costs less to make is a coin you keep more of.
