Firsthand Bitcoin · Data · Bitcoin miners
Bitcoin mining difficulty since 2013, stepping at every retarget.
132.76T on Sep 21, 2026, against 142.34T a year earlier.
Every 2,016 blocks — roughly two weeks — the network resets how hard it is to find a block so that one arrives about every ten minutes. When hashrate has grown, difficulty goes up; when machines switch off, it comes down.
Difficulty is what turns more competition into fewer coins per machine. Overlay hashprice to see the two move in opposite directions.
