Firsthand Bitcoin · Data · Bitcoin miners
The electricity behind one mined bitcoin at our hosting rates against a typical 7.5¢ industrial rate, on the same machine.
$26,491 on Sep 21, 2026, against $28,427 a year earlier.
The same machine — a current 13.5 J/TH air miner — mining the same network on the same day, with only the price of electricity changed. The green line is our Nigeria rate of 3.9¢ per kWh, the blue is the 6¢ our UAE and Argentina sites run at, and the red is 7.5¢, which is a normal industrial hosting rate almost anywhere else.
The gap between green and red is the entire business. Every one of those lines mines exactly the same number of coins; the only thing that differs is what the power cost, and at the bottom of a cycle that difference decides who is still mining and who has switched off.
Where the bitcoin price (overlaid) sits above a line, that machine at that rate is producing coins for less than they cost to buy. The steps are halvings cutting the subsidy in two; the drift upward between them is the network growing. Electricity only — hardware, freight and hosting margin are not in these lines, and neither is anyone else’s.
